Discover domestic resilience in an evolving Asia

Nov 20, 2024

Watch our Asia CIO Cheuk Wan Fan as she shares a summary of our views on discovering domestic resilience in an evolving Asia. Asia’s economies remain supported by multiple growth engines that should fuel the region’s well above global average economic growth in 2025. Robust domestic growth drivers in India and ASEAN, coupled with China’s broadening policy stimulus, are expected to support solid Asia ex-Japan GDP growth of 4.4 per cent despite the trade uncertainty under the new US administration. To navigate the fast-evolving geopolitical landscape after the US elections, we focus on discovering domestic resilience and diversification opportunities in Asian equity and credit markets. We apply this domestic lens to our overweights in Japan, India, and Singapore to find attractive alpha generation opportunities. In China, we like the internet and consumer leaders as they should benefit from policy support. We continue to look for companies that distribute high dividends and increase share buybacks to boost shareholder value. And in Asian fixed income, we focus on high quality bonds.
